The latest meeting was last week Wednesday and I was Finally cleared of the NON-VIOLATION of having my lawn chairs in my driveway with my Grill. I have been told it is no longer an issue and I am waiting on the documentation that supports this finding.
On another note, I had asked the management company to bring to the board an idea brought to me by a neighbor to have us close down the neighborhood to traffic for Halloween night so we don’t have people DRIVING their kids from house to house. Considering we have no sidewalks or street lights this has become a Safety issue. The board would not go on the record as supporting this plan but said I could contact the town to work something out. Thanks. Though I did not get the support at least it shouldn’t be a surprise to them if we block the street. The plan is to have the people PARK their cars out on the field and walk the kids through the neighborhood. We will likely see many turn around because they can’t drive their kids from house to house. I am planning on contacting the Town Manager with the idea to see if we can get Town Support and maybe have the Rescue Squad bring the lights out at the entrance.
On a final note I have been tagged with the rest of the neighborhood to paint my shutters. i guess it was only a matter of time. NOt sure where the DCC&R says that this is an enforceable offense but I’ll give in on this one.
My last comment is this, if the Board would just do the job they should be doing and not being the “Police” it might be a different atmosphere. Quit finding things to pick on people about just because YOU don’t like something. We have guiding documents and there is no need to make stuff up to fit into YOUR likes and dislikes. It’s no wonder you all say the job is so difficult, you bring things out that cause yourselves problems. Think about other people for a change and step outside your perfect world. There are good neighbors around here if you would only take time to see them. Maybe wave when people wave at you instead of turning away or pretending you are looking the other way.
I pray for a smooth finish of the year so we can remove the board and get fresh people in there who actually care about the people and not just how homes look. What’s wrong with a swing set you can see from the street?? Anyone???

Another installment of our HOA Newsletter was delivered today. Such a plethora of information. You can have a look but I will sum it up for you. Paint your shutters and keep your dogs from barking. Most people have been cooperating it says (I wonder if I am considered to be cooperating) There is a helpful reminder to get your lawn seeded with the cooler weather coming. I am glad (seriously) that was there because I almost have a full yard full of green stuff!
I am sending out an email today to everyone I have an address for to gather here to talk about our neighborhood and some other topics regarding everyone.
Here is the Newsletter

The rain appears to have subsided and the sun is shining on this Friday before we remember that 10 years ago on September 11th our Country was attacked. I don’t think I need to go into the details, we all remember.

What I want to go into is Our Love of Country. Yes, we give God the number one billing in our lives because “I can do everything through HIM who gives me strength” Phil 4:13 but I think back to the days after 9/11 and how many flags would be flying on homes, businesses, vehicles and everywhere you looked. We were a country with a singles vision, UNITY. We are so far away from that today. We complain about our country and we nitpick each other over what we wear, how we look, how we talk. We take our positions and use them to rule over our fellow humans only because we cannot because it is something that needs to be done. Too many use a position of Authority to rule instead of lead.
Of course I bring it back to our neighborhood. Our HOA does not lead our neighborhood. It Rules Over Us. There is no transparency and there is no information unless it has to do with me grilling in my front yard and keeping my lawn furniture out front. Can I ask for one final time how that violates ANYTHING in our covenants? For those who have taken a little time to know me and my family, I like everyone. I prefer to be out front grilling (which I do a whole lot) instead of being in my backyard where I would see only the back of my house. I LIKE to see people, wave and say hello. Even to those who turn their heads or look down at their radio when they drive by my home. I Love People!
So, to save from sitting here the entire morning I am putting a call out to all my neighbors in Bowling Green Meadows to contact me and let me know how you think the state of the neighborhood is. If you would like, Email me at lvnthedream@verizon.net I want to hear from everyone who reads this. If you prefer, write a comment here. I have spoken to at least 10-15 lot owners and it seems as though we have the same thoughts and feeling as to how things are going.
I would like to have a get together at my home to have a discussion outside of the “Formal” HOA meeting to discuss what we all think should be the mission of our HOA and how things could/should be different. It’s not just about identifying problems but most importantly coming up with SOLUTIONS.
Let’s come together and be a Neighborhood! I was laughed at by a few around here when I used to say that I wanted to put the ‘Neighbor” back in Neighborhood. What do you think???
Have a great weekend. Remember those thankless heroes who are as I type fighting for freedom around the world as well as all those who wear the uniform as a firefighter, policeman, EMT and all the others who risk their lives to protect and save OURS.
Peace and Blessings
Greg Mack

Meeting information
I just wanted to update everyone with some information I gathered at the HOA Board meeting.
- The Board is getting settled in with the New Management Company with regards to the plethora of information that they are being provided with. Before every meeting they’ll be received an awesome package with Reports minutes and other info. I am not a board member so I was unable to see the package to give any details.
- The Management Company will be sending out meeting notices that will also include the minutes from the previous meeting as well as an agenda for the upcoming meeting. This is great news that will allow homeowners to see when there is important information being discussed in case arrangement for childcare, arranging work schedule, etc to make it to the meeting
- There may be a Newsletter coming out that will give us some information on what is going on in the neighborhood and information other than violations or dues notices.
I would also like to comment on the turnout of homeowners at the meeting.
I was not surprised to find that only 3 homes were represented other than those on the Board or the ARC. I know that we (including me) have not been attending the meetings because of the lack of constructive business and also due to the amount of bickering that usually is included in the meetings. We need to put that all behind us and try and get in there and take control of our neighborhood. I don’t mean that in a negative way at all. Instead of spouting off here in the Blog I am going to make the effort to attend the meetings so I will know what is going on so I can make a informative decision and call foul if needed, or stand and applaud when our board puts our neighbors first. The everyday business of our neighborhood is not exciting and actually quite non-existent. We have 56 lots, a big brick sign and a sediment pond. What could really be driving new business?
We have not been informed for the past 2 years as to what is going on. The Board has been mostly silent but that is changing. Thanks to the management company that was brought in information is going to start flowing (I am praying that it will at least). There will no longer be this “HOA Black Hole” where information from the meetings gets sucked into. The info will be getting out whether or not you make it to the meetings. This will also finally allow us to make an informed decision whether we might need to attend a meeting in the event an important decision needs our vote (like a management company taking over) But to have a voice we need to be there in person or by proxy. I am planning on making the meetings and if I can’t be there I plan on sending something ahead to the Management Company if there is specific information I am looking for.
Let’s get active in this thing no matter how it used to be in the past. Let’s support the HOA because it’s here whether we like it or not. I by no means think we should just lie down and put up with anything that gets tossed at us, but instead we need to meet it head on and not lie down and wait for the stuff to hit the fan.
Have a great day and I hope to see you all around the neighborhood during the nice weather.
You all know where I live, (If not email me) look for me on the grill and feel free to stop and chat while I am burning my hotdogs and hamburgers!

The meeting was held today and here are some points I’ll share.
- Our Treasurer is keeping an eye on things and definitely will be keeping the Management company honest. Great Job
- The board was working well together to get all the details needed to work out the Reserve Study. Great Job
I will be attending the next meeting and hope to see some neighbors there. Look for a Homeowners Packet prior to the next meeting with the Agenda, financials and other info. I’ll confirm that the info will be sent prior to the next meeting.
Off to bed here, 02:45 comes quick.

Here is the latest letter I received today. From the sounds of it I shouldn’t be sitting out front in my driveway grilling. I have agreed to fix my siding which I have put off too long as it is but the grill, furniture and my boys 4 wheeler. Not gonna happen.
COPIED AND PASTED FROM THE SCANNED LETTER
Violation: Siding is damaged. Please replace/repair. Grills are to be stored behind the home out of public view. Lawn furniture should not be stored in the driveway. Toys arc to be stored either behind the home and/or out of public view while not in use.
Governing Document Reference: DCCRR&E Article III Section 3.
All improvements on the property shall be kept in good repair, and where
necessary, painted on a regular basis. The Owner shall prevent the development of any unsightly or unclean conditions of the improvements.

Well, once again I received a letter stating that I am in violation of Article III Section 3 of the Deeds and Covenants.
Section 3. Upkeep, Improvements. All Improvements on the property shall be kept in good repair, and where necessary, painted on a regular basis. The owner shall prevent the development of any unsightly or unclean conditions of the improvement.” Click the link to the right to View a Copy declerationsofcovenants
The violation was 4 bags of mulch on the side of my garage this time. They told me to “finish my project”! The last letter I received was for violating the Same Article and section but it was because of toys in the yard??? How do toys in the yard fall under that Article and Section?? I am starting to feel harrassed considering the only contact my HOA has with me or anyone else in the neighborhood is by way of letters for violations? We still have yet to get information on the Annual meeting and elections that were held?
Does anyone out there know who the Board members are or Committee members?? I am guessing it’s the same as it was last year.
If anyone has any information on the neighborhood and the HOA please let me know. Email me at gregmack@bowlinggreenmeadows.com
God Bless
